KARDASHIANS SEEK PROTECTION

Love them or hate them, the Kardashians are a worldwide known brand name. The youngest in the family, Kylie and Kendall, have recently lodged a number of trade mark applications in the USA to legally protect their name.

The two sisters are following their siblings in registering their names and are also filing their trade mark applications in a number of classes.

Trade marks are divided into 45 different categories/classes and use an international classification system.

So as you would guess it – the Kardashians have their names protected in classes which include “entertainment and TV shows; perfumes; clothing etc.”

Not only have they protected their names in the USA but have protected their brands “KIM KARDASHIAN, KARDASHIAN KOLLECTION, DASHIAN BY KARDASHIAN etc.” in other territories like the UK.

The Kardashians are not the only celebrities that protect their name. Moore Attorneys has recently filed trade mark applications both locally and internationally for the likes of 5fm’s Poppy Ntshongwana, Ronaldinho, Messi and Ryk Neethling.
